Candace has enjoyed an exceptional start to her official competition career with many recent wins at both Preliminary and Novice level on scores into the high 70s!! Even an elusive 10 in her most recent outing where she won on 77% by a convincing margin! 2009 BREEDING SEASON IS HERE! As the pedigree predicted, Cordyte is proving to be an exceptional riding horse and highly pre-potent sire. Tall, dark, and handsome, Cordyte commands attention where ever he goes. Cordyte is just getting better and better as he matures into a stunning breeding stallion and riding horse. His 2008 foals have inherited his good looks, long straight legs, short coupled topline, and friendly disposition – and from quite different types of mares. Cordyte’s ancestry makes him a dominant producer – his genetics are so strong that his progeny display so many of his own characteristics. Exciting weeks ahead as Vivace Stud awaits the 2009 Cordyte foal crop – out of mares carring Capone (IMP), Levantos (IMP), Falkland (IMP), Aachen (IMP), and approved AWHA Thoroughbred breeding. |

After a career punctuated by illness, our Caprice is back and fighting fit! And in fine enough form to win the Medium Competition at this year’s AWHA Warmblood Gala at the National Equestrian Centre with over 68% from one of the Judges! We are so fortunate to have this young mare back in the competition arena, after losing the last 2 years to persistent viral illness. Now training FEI work upto Inter II, Caprice is building strength and consolidating her work. FEBRUARY 2009 Vivace Dressage Stables relocates during the Bushfire Disaster. Over the course of the 4 days following the devastating Feb 7th Black Saturday Bushfires, all competition horses, breeding stock, foals, client horses, and our beloved retirees were relocated out of harm’s way to the Mornington Peninsula. We were fortunate to be hosted by the amazing family surrounding Monica and Steve DeGraff of Razara Arabians at their property in Balnaring. Thanks to the Eques Forum and Malcolm Barnes’ internet access at WPNEC (where we initially fled to on Saturday night), we were able to make contact with Monica who had offered evacuation agistment. There’s not too many places that can house an entire Warmblood Stud at short notice, but Monica made it happen! As the fires threatened Healesville for the entire month of February, we stayed at Razara and made the most of an ordinary situation. Everyone at Vivace Dressage is indebted to this wonderful family for hosting us. Thankyou to Monica, Steve and their gorgeous Georgia (who thought our foals were pretty cute!), Simon and Allie, and Julian for your hospitality and great company! Visit Razara Arabians at www.razara.com.au Belcam Candace gains second qualification for DWTS 2009! How’s this for temperament – Candace is evacuated along with Caprice from the Black Saturday Bushfires at 10:30pm, arrives after a three hour float trip to Werribee Park at 1:30am, is plaited for competition by 6:30am, and competes in her second ever outing off the property in the 4yo YH Qualifier at 8:00am, gains a qualifying score, and places in the Top 10!! A little flat, but given the recent extreme heat wave, fires springing up all around us, rush evacuation, and no sleep, Candace could be forgiven for not being on top of the world! Nevertheless, she pulled her little stockings up, and gave it her best. JANUARY 2009 Belcam Candace wins 4yo Young Horse Qualifier – her first ever competition! Team Jess – in conjunction with the Yarra Valley Dressage Club ran a fundraising competition for cancer research at WPNEC during January, hosting YH Qualifiers and competition upto Elementary level. In Candace’s first competition outing ever, she won the 4yo Qualifier on 70%! Thankyou Team Jess for the lovely rug as our Champion 4yo prize. DECEMBER 2008 Dressage Festival 2008 Washed Out! All dressed up and no where to compete without wearing floaties! Werribee was hit with the most torrential rain we’ve ever seen throughout the lead up to, and for the duration of the Victorian State Championships, Dressage Festival 2008. With the wild weather, and the arenas under (no kidding) upto a foot of water, Caprice was withdrawn from the Medium and Elementary Championships for safety concerns. NOVEMBER 2008 Vivace Caprice accepted for Elementary and Medium Championships at Dressage Festival 2008! OCTOBER 2008
Due to a surprise respiratory infection following preventative gastroscopy prior to her travelling to Sydney for Nationals, Caprice was withdrawn from the Championships to preserve her health for our Victorian State Championships. Vivace Caprice accepted for Australian National Championships 2008! Caprice has again qualified for the National Dressage Championships to be held at SIEC later this month. At only 7 years of age she will be amongst the top Elementary horses in Australia – we are so proud that our young mare has again qualified for the National Championships, and are looking forward to her big journey to Sydney International Equestrian Centre in October. SEMEN CONTRACTS AVAILABLE for Cordyte! Contact us to arrange your booking, as only a limited number of mares will be accepted during the 2008 Breeding Season. Cordyte’s first foal has arrived!
Wondering what Cordyte is producing? Have a peek at our Youngstock link for photos of Cordyte’s first foal crop! Cordyte has lived up to the expectations of his pedigree – highly pre-potent, passing on his own attributes as a Sire. With generations of proven international performance and dominant breeding stock behind him, Cordyte has stamped his progeny with his own compact, modern conformation, elastic movement, deep set shoulder and length of rein, and most importantly, his superb biddable character. In considering Cordyte as the Sire of your next season’s progeny, please make your bookings promptly as only a limited number of mares can still be accepted for this season. Cordyte’s Breeding Contract is now available online. For your inspection of Cordyte, his siblings, and progeny, please contact us at Vivace Warmblood Stud to arrange an appointment. A DVD is being compiled at present, but there is nothing like actually meeting the Sire of your next generation! SEPTEMBER 2008
